VEHICLE

Exclusively for the ADAC Tourenwagen Junior Cup series, the VW up! GTI is a thoroughbred Cup vehicle whose technical key data make it unique in an international comparison.

Developed and homologated according to our own Junior Cup regulations, the vehicle is unrivaled in terms of equipment and engineering and closes the large gap between karting and professional touring car and GT racing in Germany with a first-class and cost-effective training device.

The VW up! GTI Cup was first created as a prototype after a development phase of around one year and completed its rollout in 2019. In order to simulate the mileage of several years of use, the first test and development program included test bench runs and more than 4,000 kilometers on national and international racetracks. A value that also corresponds to OEM customer racing vehicles and has been surpassed many times by us through continuous development.

The close cooperation with our technical partners ensures the best possible development of all cup-specific components and will also help to ensure that the vehicle can cope with all the demands of everyday racing in the future.

In its second year of use, the vehicle was refined with sensible modifications: since the 2022 season, a limited slip differential has provided professional propulsion, which not only makes the vehicle around 3 seconds faster, but also improves drivability and steering behavior. Since then, even closer duels and "more racing car" have ensured an even higher technical standard.

A new front axle will be fitted to all vehicles in 2024. The now CNC-milled aluminum wheel bearing housings have an optimized geometry, large wheel bearings and new wheel hubs in conjunction with uniball guide joints. An update that increases ease of maintenance and maintenance intervals, thereby reducing input costs and further improving performance.

The 2024 upgrade package is rounded off by a new body and fender kit on the front end, which is specifically tailored to the revised front axle and the new Hoosier tires.

The vehicle reached its final technical development stage in 2025. After more than 40 units were built between 2020 and 2025, the car has also been offered as a conversion kit for self-assembly since mid-2025; race-ready vehicles, however, are only built to customer order.

The following vehicle brochures are valid for the year 2025/2026 and contain all relevant information. The series organization will be happy to answer any questions.
